R. H. at the Ritz

R.H.--this is a Ladies Only trip to Paris!

What are you doing here?

Did you miss me?

Aww, of course we'll all meet you.

You're at the Ritz bar now?

Just people watching?

Hmm, sure you are.

Okay, we'll meet you in the large dining room.

See you there.

But R.H., Parisiennes bring their dogs
with them when they dine out.

Everyone finished?
Shall we show R.H. Paris, girls?

How about the Place de l'Opera?

No? You'd prefer to go to the Folies-Bergere, R.H.?

And see Josephine Baker dance?

My, that was fun!

What are your plans for tomorrow, R.H.?

You thought you might drive to Deauville?

Bathe in the sea?

We'll go along too, won't we, girls?

Oh yes, R.H., I see the sea.

Shall we join him, ladies?

Thank you, ladies,
for helping me celebrate my May birthday.

Girlfriends are great…
and yes R.H., you are too!

Adieu, everyone!

  1. Had quite the evening at The Lido in Paris, age 16.

French manager of European Space Agency, ESA, gave me plenty of attention, and champagne. Then the best invitation. All with my parents present.

We left Paris the next morning, a day early. Dad could not handle the situation.

What a show, and evening at The Lido.

    1. I love your comment, Tara! I can just picture you at 16, you had to be stunning. And I can picture your father wanting to take you out of Paris!

I hope anyone else who has been to Paris will tell us some of their memorable moments there!

  2. Paris - I've been there three times, once as a college student, once with my husband, and once with my mother and sister. The best trip was with my husband, for our 30th anniversary. It was early June and we wandered through the streets, hung over bridges to watch life on the Seine float by, sat in parks and observed younger lovers making out, and generally had a glorious time.

    1. Lorrie, that is the Paris I dream of! Thank you for helping me picture it through your eyes. This armchair traveler loves stories like this!

  3. wow, Josephine Baker's dance costume is fabulous! And I love all those vintage ladies at the beach, so much fun. I am wondering, do they really bring their dogs with them when they dine out? Very interesting.

    Delightful post, Dewena.

    love, ~Sheri

    1. Sheri, I'm assuming they do that still since there was a dog in the restaurant in Midnight in Paris. But I've never been. Anyone know the answer to that?

      Thank you, Sheri!

  4. I'm sure R.H. would enjoy the delicious dining experiences in the city of creative cuisine, beautiful views, and charming streets. You must definitely designate some couple time for just the two of you, to indulge in Paris' perfection.

    Happy weekend, my friend!

  5. Such wonderful photos... Nostalgia... Elegance... I don't know about the dog question, but it appears that dogs are a popular accessory. Adieu!! blessings ~ tanna

  6. I think R.H. is a lucky guy :) He married a girl that is fun :)

  7. I'm so glad that R.H. came to meet you in Paris! A perfect ending to the Parisian girl-getaway! OK, here's my Paris story...My husband came home from work years ago and was COMPLAINING that he had to go on a business trip to Paris. He'd never been to Europe before. He couldn't understand what the big deal was going to Paris...after all, he's from New York, so who needs to see another city? Of course, I was packed before he got the words out. When we arrived in Paris, we walked outside from the metro and the Arc de' Triomphe was straight ahead. Hubby got all teary, remembering newsreels of German troops walking through. By the end of the week, he was so taken with Paris, he wanted to move there!

  8. Thank you so much for taking us to Paris, Dewena! I had a fabulous time :)
