[Ladies' Home Journal April 1951]
Daniel Green has been making slippers for 130 years!
I used to give ones like the Fifi style above at lingerie showers
for my girlfriends when I was a young married woman.
They were always a big hit.

But I still wear Daniel Green Slippers today.
I don't think they make honeymoon slippers anymore.
But if you want a comfy slipper, Daniel Green Slippers make me happy--
and Otis likes them too.

Lol. Very amusing. Neither of the slippers in the ad look comfy to me- but perhaps 20 years ago I would have thought differently. The pair by your bed look inviting though.
ReplyDeleteYour slippers look so soft and comfy, Dewena. wow, making slippers for 130 years, that's something else! I love all your Ladies' Home Journal posts, they are always heart warming.
ReplyDeletelove, ~Sheri
Hello Otis :~)
I hate they stopped making the sexy little honeymoon slippers! I always though they made pajamas or night gowns look so elegant! Now, I just wear flip-slips around the house...nothing elegant about that at all! :-)
ReplyDeleteAs long as Otis doesn't like to play with them... As is the wont of so many doggies. :-)
ReplyDeleteHave you noticed? Your blog is living in "another time"... Something like Rue's is. And it is very sweet...
My slippers have to be a tiny bit outdoor'ish. Mornings include going outside for the animals.... My mom always gifts me the best. Most often from Lands End. Your Otis could pass for my Laskett in the pic. And the bird on your spread. Had similar on wallpaper in home I just moved from, and one on my wedgewood formal pattern. Should I include your dust ruffle pattern is strongly similar to pattern on vintage drapes for my office? They are boxed still and will probably not use those drapes in this new home, dimensions wildly different.
ReplyDeleteHaving coffee, watching fog roll in across dairy farm, sitting in my favorite wicker chair, and the wicker rocker beside me is empty. You should be in it !!
XOT
Oh my gosh, I remember those. I used to wear them but just pad around barefoot in my apartment now. I'm just a barefoot sort of gal.
ReplyDeleteSo old fashioned and so glamorous!!
ReplyDeleteHi Dewena having seen your name on many of the blogs I visit ... here I am!
ReplyDeleteI always like a slip in mule type of slipper, comfortable as well !
All the best Jan
Anything with a bit of a heel certainly makes a lady's legs look longer and more slender, don't you think? Gone are the days when I used to effortlessly slide into a pair of pretty, peep toe pumps to dance the night away at a wedding. Nowadays, the only heels I can manage to comfortably walk in are wedges, which, to me, are just as elegant.
ReplyDeleteYour Daniel Green slippers look so cozy, and today, would be my slipper of choice, too, as those flirty Fifis would have been when I was a young bride. Ah, to have known you back then...
Happy Sunday, my friend!
xoxo

Hello Dewena,
ReplyDeleteMy slippers are ll bean with sherling lining as my feet are always like ice! Nothing pretty or dainty about them but at least my feet are warm! Love the photo with Otis!!! LOL!
Linda
I'm afraid Daniel Green is a bit pricey for me. I'm a Dearfoam girl. Terry ballet slippers are my favorite. I like your bed skirt. It reminds me of mine. :)
ReplyDeleteI had those slippers on my honeymoon, but I believe they had a little poof in the front. Those were the days when brides made a big deal outdid their 'trousseau'. Do you remember Frederick's of Hollywood? That was the original Victoria's Secret only a lot tackier lol. I bought a few things from them back in the day. Now I would just look like a hippo in a tutu. lol
ReplyDeleteHow elegant to have shoes like that to lounge in. I think I might need to take a look around and see if I can find some like that. I know Mr. Man would surely love it ;)
ReplyDeleteI have house slippers that I wear. I bought them because someone on Amazon recommended them after buying them for her 90 year old mother. I figured, they'd be perfect for me in my 1940s housecoats and robes ;)
xo,
rue
Oh, your blue slippers look so comfy, and if the trees here are any warning... we are going to need warm slippers soon!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing , observant bunch of ladies! I would have missed your beautiful bedskirt , bedspread and rug(saw that when I went back to check out first 2).
ReplyDeleteOooh, just love those Fifi slippers!! How fun! And I love your bedding, too :)
ReplyDeleteI love Daniel Green slippers too-took a white pair on our honeymoon.
ReplyDeleteLove the peacock sheet or whatever it is on the bed. I might have had a pair years ago - not sure though.
ReplyDeletei remember daniel green slippers too!
ReplyDeleteand i LOVE that picture of otis! LOLOL...
he thinks he's hidden. LOLOL.
what a darling. xoxo♥
I never heard of the slippers before? Where do they sell them? Nothing like a really good pair of slippers....and being pretty is a plus.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Sweetie! I will have to try these slippers! I have never heard of them either! And hopefully, when it cools down from 90-something soon, I can be cozy in them too! ((((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteLOL that last photo!! :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of these slippers. They look very comfy. I'm assuming Otis is past the slipper-chewing phase. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have not heard of these slippers. They look wonderful. We are having a bit of early Autumn weather and slippers are needed today. :-)
ReplyDeleteHoneymoon slippers! That's the first I've heard of that, and Daniel Green slippers. They do look comfy, though. And Otis is too cute, hiding under the bed. My dog just loves chewing on slippers, so we got her her very own pair!
ReplyDeleteOh, that last picture made me laugh out loud! LOVE it!
