Pinch me, I must be dreaming!
Mother's Day lunch, 2016. Our daughter and son-in-law treated their moms to lunch at the beach. That's us above, the moms. At the beach, only a few miles from home. I really must be dreaming...oh, and no photo shopping on the colors. The Atlantic really was that blue. And I did go sit on the beach for an hour afterwards, under an umbrella, slathered in sunscreen, covered from head to toe. A trip to the Mayo Clinic here for my annual skin cancer check last week reported no return of that, but I am being careful here in sunny Florida. I'll be careful but this beach is too beautiful for me to stay away.
Do you faithfully use sunscreen? After having two kinds of skin cancer in 2003 I use it, wear hats, even carry a sunbrella. Because I don't want to miss out on visiting this beautiful beach.
It's R.H.'s favorite spot too.
If we're dreaming, please don't wake us up.
Congratulations on your move, Dewena! I can't picture a more perfect spot for a Mother's Day lunch. You are living my dream life, lol! My husband and I are such a beach people, and we talk about some day when we move to Florida, near the beach. When we do, you and I will have to meet somewhere in the sunshine state (both covered up and slathered in sunscreen), and have a toast to living the good life! Enjoy your new lifestyle, Dewena! Happy belated Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about me waking you up Dewena. You just keep living the dream my friend. You deserve it and you've certainly earned it.
ReplyDeleteditto Doreen!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you I could just burst!
and two beautiful moms.
looking very French there dsm! XOXOXO♥
How lovely!! I'm so happy you are enjoying your new home so much - and yes, I also wear sunscreen every single day on my face....winter, too...and I just bought two big straw hats for gardening! Time to break out the sunscreen lotion for the rest of me, now.
ReplyDeleteOh, you're having the time of your life, Dewena! That's nice that your daughter treated you to lunch at the beach. I heard Florida was so nice, and would love to visit someday. Although we get the sunshine and beaches here also in this little place called California hehehe.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed weekend, Dewena.
love, ~Sheri
Ahhhh how great to be right on the beach for a special lunch. With being light skinned and freckles I have to put on the sun screen too. Still love that sun though. I wish I were in your dream having lunch right next to you at the table!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week end.
Kris
This sounds awful, but I've never ever used sun screen in my life. My daughters think that is horrid, but I can't stand anything on my skin at all.

There's just nothing like the beach - and the beach you can go to whenever you want to is just the best!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful day and you are looking good too. I am also doing a better job of taking care of myself with the sun. I wear hats too. Do you have a favorite hat?
ReplyDelete:-)
Carla
You look so beautiful and sound so happy. What a great way to spend Mother's Day. I also need to wear a hat in the summer for the same reason but up here in the mountains of the north we don't have to worry about too much hot sun. Forecast for tonight. Thirty three degrees. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteI prefer to go through life in the dream of kindness, magic made by each one of us, the magic of smiling no matter where you are. Oh Dewena, the ocean, that is MY DREAM, literally! We now live in the midwest, but I am originally from California and then I lived in Boston for 11 years, so the ocean is in my blood. For years, I'd dream the water every night. Last year however, we finally made it back to our honeymoon spot of 34 years in Carmel, California. I no longer dream the ocean; I guess I got my fill for now!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for coming to visit my blog! HAPPY SPRING!
Lunch on the beach...oh wonderful. I love it. So nice to have a great place to just walk around and enjoy. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteLiving by the beach must be the best! Looks so beautiful. I am very fair (strawberry-blonde and green-blue eyes), had some terrible sunburns in my childhood, and my mother has had several spots of basal cell carcinoma cut off her arms, so I am very careful with the sun, too. I've recently read articles about all the chemicals in sunscreen and how they are actually - surprise! - cancer causing, so I've been researching natural sunscreens to find the best fit for me and my husband.
ReplyDeleteDewena,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely Mother's Day treat you received!!! The ocean view is beautiful! I wouldn't want to wake up either!! Enjoy my friend!
Linda
I love the beach! Looks like you had a wonderful time. Lots of sunscreen and skin protection and you can enjoy to your heart's content. Nothing so relaxing as those waves, the breeze, and the warm sun.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the old-fashioned parasols come back, all lacy and pretty. And gloves too. So pretty and good protection for us. (well, maybe skip the gloves at the beach -- haha!) xo Deborah
Just lovely, blue skies, blue sea and sun!
ReplyDeleteI always like to wear a hat when it gets sunny too!
Just keep on enjoying life ...
All the best Jan
The beach is my favorite place in the world. I am glad you were able to enjoy it, it looks like a lovely day!
ReplyDeletewow looks like such a great place you moved to and u sound so happy.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited...can comment again so you've been warned...grin. It looks like y'all had a lovely time...so wonderful to see! As to sunscreen...moisturizer with sunscreen but always forget to use on my body unless I'm at the beach. I have a farmers tan but do wear hats and use parasols...much to the amusement of folks in town, they seem to find it laughable...another reason I live behind a locked gate...so I can choose when I'm up to being ridiculed. Happy Mother's Day and HAPPY Birthday!
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful! Glad to see your posts again. I am so behind with everyone, and I hate that! It was so good to get your recent comments, and know you hadn't forgotten me.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful - all that blue and the beach.
